We have opportunities for adults with disabilities to learn independent living skills and adults basic education through interagency connections.

Tri-County Community College - sponsors Adult Basic Education through use of computers. Daily classes are held at IOI to support literacy, money recognition and management, adults basic education, art and computer skills.

Cherokee County Extension Services - sponsors a cooking class once a week to support healthy eating habits and to teach meal preparation.

Cherokee County Health Department - sponsors classes periodically on personal hygiene and other health related topics.

Women's Resource Center - sponsors classes periodically on self-advocacy and self defense.

Cherokee County Special Olympics - members of our staff and the adults with disabilities served are actively involved in training and Special Olympics events.

Union County Saddle Club - holds an annual event focused for adults with disabilities. Opportunities are offered for horseback riding, carriage rides, and rodeo type events.

Marketing Association of Rehabilitation Centers - actively involved with a group of rehabilitation in Western North Carolina for support, self-insured health group and looking for work.
